Fedorov Settlement

Similar to Podšíp, the settlement of Fedorovo is also an example of a rural architectural settlement where farming was the predominant means of livelihood. Access to the settlement leads directly from the village of Stankovany along the yellow trail marker , which also heads towards the distinctive Mount Šíp.

The path is not too steep, it can be managed even on a mountain bike with better suspension, but it may not be suitable for younger cyclists due to the difficulty of the terrain. Dense forest vegetation alternates with the magic of light and shadows and sunny meadow sections, where in July many medicinal plants grow, such as St. John's wort or agrimony.

Road to the settlement

Žltá značka nás zavedie až k rozľahlej lúke s názvom Žaškovské sedlo, kde nájdeme smerovník. Tu si môžeme oddýchnuť v prístrešku, ktorý môže byť nápomocný aj pri náhlom zhoršení počasia. Ak budeme mať šťastie, natrafíme tu aj na pasúce sa ovce so svojou unikátnou zvonkohrou.

From this point, the route also leads to the top of Šíp. However, we will have to say goodbye to the yellow trail that has safely guided us and embark on a small adventure. There is no marked hiking trail to the Fedorovo settlement, so we will take an inconspicuous path through the forest. The path may be somewhat hindered by tractor ruts, but knowing that we are really close, we will easily overcome these obstacles.

At the end, one decision awaits us: the path splits into two. We will take the one on the left side, which descends steeply, and in about 5 minutes we can sit down on the bench where our ancestors also used to sit by the ancient linden tree. Its dried flowers served well in autumn and winter as medicine with a cup of tea. But let us be considerate of the surroundings – the property is privately owned, someone takes good care of it, so let us only look at it and not interfere with the environment in any way.

For the return, we can choose a shorter, but steep route, which however suffers from poor terrain and ruts from timber hauling, or we can return the way we came.
