Chata pod Borišovom

Idyll by the radiant warmth of the fireplace, snowflakes fluttering outside the window, and excellent sauerkraut soup – that is Chata pod Borišovom. When visiting in the autumn season, you will be charmed by the untamed energy of nature, which will sort out your thoughts, strengthen your condition, and offer space for reflection.

Surroundings of the cottage and natural wealth

Flora (Vegetation)

The surroundings of the cottage are known for a rich representation of mountain flora and a specific composition of forests:

Alpine communities: Mountain meadows originated from historical grazing. Here bloom Carpathian crocus, narcissus-flowered anemone and golden lily.
Primeval forest remnants: The surroundings of Borišov offer preserved maple-beech forests with an admixture of spruce and fir.
Curved trees: Under the influence of wind and snow, the European beech here takes on bizarre shapes.

Fauna (Animal life)

The location is part of the Veľká Fatra National Park, where you will find:

Large predators: Home of the “big three” – brown bear, gray wolf, and Eurasian lynx.
Birds: The rocks of Borišov are inhabited by the peregrine falcon, and in the forests one can hear the western capercaillie.

Access and transport

1. From Vyšná Revúca (Fastest access)

Approx. 2:30 – 3:00 h. Marking: yellow (to the saddle), then red. Parking in the village of Vyšná Revúca.

2. From Necpaly (Necpalská dolina)

Picturesque blue trail, approx. 4:30 – 5:00 h. Parking at the start of the valley.

3. From Belá-Dulice (Belianska dolina)

Green trail, approx. 4:30 – 5:00 h. Free parking in the village.

Warning about the dangerous winter crossing along the blue trail

The blue traverse of Ploská is extremely dangerous in winter, and the Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) strongly recommends avoiding it. Avalanches are very frequent in this area.

Practical information

Supplies: The chalet is supplied by porters, which is reflected in the menu and food prices.
Signal and electricity: Mobile signal is very weak to non-existent. Lighting is often by candles.
Reservation: We recommend booking in advance (by email), capacity is approx. 20 beds.

Tip: If you have energy left, run directly above the cottage to Borišov peak (yellow trail, approx. 45 min). The view from there is among the best in Slovakia.
