Through the Turská dolina via Skalka to Martinské hole

Turská dolina is situated near the city of Žilina on the edge of the Lúčanská Fatra, behind the village of Turie. The Turiansky potok stream flows through it. The valley trail consists of an asphalt path with a gentle incline, ending at a forester's lodge approximately 7 km from its mouth. Near the entrance, you can get drinking water. The surrounding nature gives an impression of being preserved and almost untouched.

Approximately one-third of the way, you can decide whether to turn off on the yellow trail and climb steeply to the peak of Minčol, or continue along the asphalt path to the end. From there, it is just a short distance to Skalka with its surroundings of Martinské hole, low growth of blueberries and conifers with a wide view of the peak Kľak or Kozol. Finally, you can take a walk to the Krížava transmitter, from where you can return or continue further.

Flora and fauna

• Forests: Spruce forests predominate in the upper elevations, transitioning lower into mixed forests (beech, fir, maple).
• Birds of prey and carnivores: The valley is the territory of the brown bear, gray wolf, and lynx.
• Plants: In moist places grows the protected Telekia speciosa (heart-leaved oxeye).

Tourist and recreational character

• Hiking: A yellow trail leads through the valley to the ridge. The ascent is long and physically demanding.
• Cycling: The asphalt road is ideal for mountain bikers.
• Atmosphere: The valley offers peace and quiet, which lovers of authentic nature will appreciate.

Access and transport
