In general, it is forbidden to make fires in nature. Public fire pits and campsites are designated for this purpose. However, people often make fires themselves and at their own risk. Therefore, it is appropriate to mention a few safety tips. Never make a fire in national parks and protected landscape areas – it is prohibited by law and such conduct carries high fines. In the event of a fire, we would endanger a large amount of rare fauna and flora.
If we have decided to make a fire in nature, let's follow these principles:
- The place where we make the fire pit should be cleaned (remove dry leaves, needles, and branches).
- The fire pit should be lined with stones. We line it so that glowing embers don't roll outside the fire pit.
- Let's not make a fire in extremely dry places and without access to water.
- Always have enough water with us to extinguish it. It's best if there is a stream, river, or well nearby.
- Never leave a fire unattended!
- After finishing, the campfire we thoroughly douse with water. Before we leave it, we thoroughly make sure that it no longer smokes at all and the ashes are cold.
